What is a Life Member?
A Life Member is a person honoured for highly valued services to the Association elected as a Life Member by resolution of the Board. A Life Member shall have all the rights and privileges of a financial Individual Member and shall be subject to all the duties of an Individual Member except those of paying subscriptions and levies.

A Fellow Member is a person recognised for that person's experience and high standing in the research and associated industries elected as a Fellow Member by resolution of the Board following a recommendation from an Entitled Member (fully paid-up current member) with the support of at least two existing Fellows. A Fellow Member shall have all the rights and privileges of a financial Individual Member (RANZ Constitution Rule 2.2(C)).
Fellowship is RANZ's way of recognising people whose work has made a real and lasting difference to our profession and industry. If you know someone who fits this criteria, you can nominate them. Here is what is involved.
Who can nominate
• Any current, financial RANZ member can nominate a candidate.
• The Board or a RANZ committee (such as the Awards Committee) can also put forward a candidate.
• Every Fellowship nomination needs signed support from at least two existing Fellows.
What criteria the candidate needs to meet
• Their work must have materially benefited the profession or industry over a sustained period.
• They must agree in writing to become a RANZ member, if they are not one already.
• Their achievements must cover at least three of these seven areas:
– Professional achievement and standing
– Service to the Association
– Industry leadership and influence
– Sharing expertise and mentoring
– Innovation and new thinking
– Ethical leadership
– Economic or sector impact
What you need to submit
• A completed and signed nomination form.
• A nomination statement (up to 1,000 words) showing how the candidate meets at least three of the areas above.
• Supporting evidence, kept brief (no more than six items).
• Two signed endorsements from existing Fellows, each up to 200 words, explaining why the candidate deserves Fellowship.
• Optional: a small number of extra testimonials, if you have them.
How to submit, and what happens next
• Email your completed nomination package to the RANZ chair or secretary.
• The call for nominations opens each year ahead of the awards or conference event, with a set deadline.
• An independent assessment panel reviews all complete nominations and makes a recommendation to the RANZ Board.
• The Board makes the final decision.
• You and the candidate will hear the outcome within four weeks of the Board's decision, whatever the result.
Anyone proposed to be recognised as a Fellow or proposed to be honoured by being recognised as a Life Member must consent to becoming a member.
